The House of Sports announces the hiring of Katie Higgins as Director of Youth Soccer.  In this role, Higgins will oversee the Westchester Kickers soccer program which focuses on soccer fundamentals and training for children ages 2 to 8 years old.

Katie Higgins joins the Director staff at House of Sports that continues to grow youth athletes across a variety of sports and is led by General Manager, Frank Lombardy.

“We are very excited to have Katie join the House of Sports leadership team,” Lombardy said. “I am incredibly proud of the work our directors do each day in their efforts to have a positive coaching impact on children in Westchester County.  Katie will be no exception to this, as she has an excellent background in childhood education as well as tremendous experience and passion for teaching youth sports.”  

A Westchester native, Higgins began her soccer career playing at the travel level with Yonkers United and in High School at Maria Regina.  Higgins attended Loyola University in Maryland and then went on to receive her master’s degree in childhood education at Mercy College.  After graduate school, Higgins spent 3 years professionally in the Yonkers School District.  After teaching, Higgins found her calling in coaching and returned to her alma mater to coach soccer and tennis at Maria Regina.  In addition to her role as Youth Soccer Director at House of Sports, Higgins is also a certified group exercise instructor and plays competitive soccer and pickleball.

Higgins will start immediately in her role at House of Sports and will look to kick-off the new fun and exciting Westchester Kickers program starting in November.

“Soccer is a lifelong game and one where I’ve personally had very fond memories and made great friends,” Higgins said.  My goal at House of Sports is to make soccer accessible and fun for kids at the youngest ages. I am beyond ecstatic to have been awarded this opportunity and plan to hit the ground running.
