Starting in the Fall of 2025, True Lacrosse and House of Sports in Westchester, New York, have entered a partnership which will see the formation of the True Westchester Girls Club Lacrosse program. House of Sports’ girls club lacrosse programming will transition to become a local True program for girls in the Westchester area. The House of Sports facility will serve as headquarters for True Westchester, while remaining a vital part of the community as it continues to operate in its current capacity with training classes, camps and leagues.
Leading the True Westchester Girls Program will be current director of the House of Sports girls lacrosse program, Joe Frederick. Frederick is also the head coach of the varsity lacrosse program at Ursuline High School, and brings over a decade of coaching and program development experience at all levels to True Westchester Girls. He has been at House of Sports for five years and at Ursuline for eight. He is the all-time winningest coach in Ursuline program history, guiding the team to three NYSPHSAA Secion 1 semi-final appearances in the last four years. Ursuline produced its first-ever All-American and more than 10 players have advanced to play collegiate lacrosse under Frederick’s leadership.
At House of Sports, Frederick has overseen rapid growth in the girls lacrosse program, including a nearly 30% year-over-year increase in the last year. The winter league is the largest in the region, with over 20 high school teams and 500 players participating. Frederick has coached and organized youth programs for the Yorktown Athletic Club, Croton, Bronxville, and Pelham Youth Lacrosse. He currently coaches the New Balance All American CONNY Region Burn Team and formerly served as the sub regional chair for the Hudson Valley National Tournament Team. A graduate of Yorktown High School, Frederick was a starting player on the school’s first-ever New York State Public High School Lacrosse Championship team. He continued his playing career at Towson University. Two of his three children are continuing their father’s legacy in lacrosse: Amanda is the head coach of Mahopac High School’s varsity lacrosse team, and Katie is the associate head coach of UConn women’s lacrosse.
Working alongside Frederick as co-director of the True Westchester Girls program will be Aleya Corretjer. A 2018 graduate of North Rockland High School, Corretjer played at the varsity lacrosse level since she was in 8th grade. During her five years on varsity, she helped her team win three sectional championships and earned such honors as High School All-American, Rockland County Female Athlete of the Year, and Journal News Player of hte Year. She is #7 in the NYSPHSAA record books for most career assists. She continued her lacrosse career at Pace University, where she and her team made history for the school by winning the 2023 National Championship, the first championship win in program and school history. That same year, she was awarded DII Attacker of the Year, NE10 Attacker of the Year, and IWLCA First Team All American. She holds records at Pace for most assists in a game, season, career, and also most points in a season. Corretjer is a member of the Puerto Rico National Lacrosse Team, and will compete in the World Championship Qualifiers in June 2025. She has coached lacrosse at Metro Girls Lacrosse Club for the last five years and has coached players in grades 5th-11th. She volunteered with the women’s lacrosse program at SUNY New Paltz, and is currently the varsity head coach at Ethical Culture Fieldston School in the Bronx.
Blake Balcaen, director of the True Westchester boys program and territory manager for all True New York programs, is confident this merger will be the start of a successful True Westchester Girls program. “I am thrilled about the opportunity to join forces with Joe and Alleya to bring True Westchester Girls to life,” he said. “What Joe has done at House of Sports with the girls lacrosse programming is create an outstanding product rooted in his experience as a player and coach, and emphasizing the core values we promote every day to our players at True Lacrosse: training top athletes on the field and shaping thoughtful, confident, successful people off the field. We are excited to build on Joe’s success by providing additional support and resources through our vast network and infrastructure. We’re eager to continue to offer an exceptional lacrosse training experience for the girls lacrosse community in Westchester and seeing these girls succeed on and off the field!”
True Westchester Girls will host inaugural tryouts for their 2025-2026 travel teams on July 9th and 10th.
